Welcome Campers

Whether this is your first year participating in a unit or your last, this summer will be a fun adventure.

What Will I Do At Camp?

A typical unit works to earn their patch or badge, sing songs, play games, enjoy snacks, go on nature walks and participate in arts and crafts projects. Older campers are also allowed to have access to an extended set of hiking trails, archery and a sleepover under the stars.

A unit has two leaders and two PAs (PAs are trained older teen Girl Scouts), giving the unit four strong, excited-to-be-there, older figures. The unique experience of day camp is an amazing one that every girl would love.

What Should I Bring?

There are a handful of necessities to have a fun day at camp every day of the week. These items include: We ask that you do not bring electronics, over-the-counter medications or extra items that are unnecessary. Required medications will be turned in to the camp first aider and campers can see the nurse/first aider to take medications as needed throughout the day.

UNIT LEVEL BADGES/PATCHES

Our camp has elected to implement the NEW NATIONAL BADGE PROGRAM set forth by Girl Scouts of the USA for the Brownie and Junior level badges. The new badge choices are different from the old Brownie Try-its and Junior Badges. For information on what each badge is about, please see the description next to each badge offered.

Daisy Patch
Daisy Explorer (going into grade K or 1)

Badges (Brownie level: going into grade 2 or 3) Badges (Junior level: going into grade 4 or 5)

Outdoor Skills (going into grade 6 and above)

All girls entering grade 6 or above in the fall of 2012 can register for the Outdoor Skills Training unit.

PAIT - Program Aide in Training (going into grade 7 and above)

All girls entering grade 7 or above in the fall of 2012 can register for the PAIT unit. This training is required to become a PA at camp.

Thursday Overnight for grade 4 and above

Sleeping under the stars in the meadow, seeing shooting stars, listening to bull frogs, crickets and other night time sounds are all part of the overnight experience. There is also a night time ceremony at Council Fire that all campers participate in with songs, skits and a bonfire.

The overnight is on Thursday, July 19, 2012. Girls entering 4th grade or higher in the fall of 2012 are invited to join the overnight. There is a theme dinner on Thursday, and breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided for the overnight campers on Friday.

At the beginning of camp, a letter will be sent home with the camper. Girls need to return the 1/2 sheet food form as soon as possible in order to spend the night. The letter will detail what items the campers should or should not bring. A warm sleeping bag, a small tarp and warm PJ's/sweats are a must. Electronics and food are not to be sent with the campers for the overnight. Food in the meadow would only encourage "critters" to visit the meadow while everyone is sleeping.

If it is raining the day of the overnight, the overnight will be cancelled. If it starts to rain during the overnight, the Directors have a backup plan for the evacuation of the meadow and the girls will stay at camp.
